First of all, the minimum capacity of the a/c needs to be determined, in order to cool the particular room. You can do this by means of the calculation below, but please note, this is only for non-specialist use. Different rules apply to server rooms, large business halls and public areas.
A portable air conditioner is a frequently chosen solution, because it is cheaper and the installation work and costs are lower. Another advantage is that you can move a portable air conditioner between rooms: cooling your living room during the day and the ideal temperature in the bedroom at night.
The disadvantage of this is that you have to ensure that the warm air is led outside through an exhaust hose, through a door or a window, without allowing warm outside air to enter at the same time. Mobile air conditioners cause more noise than a wall mounted air conditioner with an outdoor unit, because the compressor of a split air conditioner hangs outside and this is what causes the noise.
Are you considering purchasing a portable air conditioner? Koelonderdelen.nl has various options in its range, including those from the renowned Carrier brand.
Wall mounted air conditioners without an outdoor unit are cheaper to purchase and easier and cheaper to install. This also depends on the various functions you want (control with WiFi?) and the supplied accessories, such as a remote control. In addition, the outdoor unit is generally labeled as ugly, and a wall mounted a/c without an outdoor unit, you often only see two grilles for the air supply and exhaust.
The wall mounted air conditioners with outdoor unit are the most expensive to purchase and the most work to install. But also the quietest and most efficient solution.
You can install a split air conditioner for your home yourself. Although beaware that it might be prohibited in your country to connect, to fill with refrigerant and commission the system without a recognized technician. However, this is only a fraction of the total work. So it will save you a lot if you do the rest yourself.
After purchasing the air conditioning system of your choice, you will determine where the indoor unit will be installed. Do this as high as possible (cold air descends) but at least 10 cm from the ceiling. Not too close to the place you want to cool (it is not comfortable to be directly in the cold air flow). And in a place where the temperature measurement of the air conditioning gives a good picture of the room (so not in full sun). The mounting can be done by means of a mounting plate, make sure that it is level both horizontally and vertically. Attach the pipes to the indoor unit connection points and hang the unit.
Hang the outdoor unit from the outside wall or place it on a flat roof. Make sure that it is in the shade as much as possible and that it can draw in sufficient ambient air. Also, place it where you and your surroundings are bothered as little as possible by the compressor noise. It is recommended that you install the condensation drain from the indoor unit downwards. This because of the drainage of condensation water. You can moor higher, but then you should use a condensation water pump.
For the pipes (power cable, cooling pipe and condensation drain), drill a hole through the wall, through which you lead the pipes to the outside. Tighten the pipes well and fix them on the inside. Connecting the pipes to the outdoor unit and filling your air-conditioning system with refrigerant could be done by a certified company, when this is required by law, as discussed earlier.
If you choose to install a wall mounted air conditioning, Koelonderdelen.nl has most of the supplies for this. Think of various ducts, corners, bends and rosettes in various colors and from different brands. But you have also come to the right place for condensation hoses, condensate removal pumps, portable air conditioners and air cleaners!
Once your air conditioning system has been realized, you want to keep it in optimal condition. Only then it reaches the capacity what you want, lasts a long time and does not smell. In that case, make sure that you keep the system clean and maintain it properly. Koelonderdelen.nl has various cleaning products for this purpose, such as from the brands GreenXL and Kate’s Choice in its range.
